In 1988, BFJ began designing modern roundabouts for the Public Works Administration of Luxembourg. Since then, the firm has played a significant role in introducing modern roundabouts to the United States. BFJ’s transportation principal, Georges Jacquemart, wrote the “Synthesis on Modern Roundabout Practice in the United States” for the Transportation Research Board, co-authored the preparation of the Federal Highway Administration’s 2000 roundabout guide, and wrote the roundabout chapter in “Toolbox on Intersection Safety and Design” for the Federal Highway Administration/Institute of Transportation Engineers. BFJ has undertaken numerous roundabout feasibility studies, including conceptual design, critical geometric elements and the analysis of performance.

BFJ’s experience includes roundabouts in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg; Kirchberg-Est, Luxembourg; Amos, Quebec; Hull, Quebec; Faculty Road and Elm Drive in Princeton, New Jersey; Route 117 in Sag Harbor, New York; the Rutherford Station Plaza, New Jersey; the Dowling Road interchange of Seward Freeway in Anchorage, Alaska; Hardscrabble Road/I-684 ramps in North Salem, New York; South Plymouth Avenue/Ford Street in Rochester, New York; Clifton, New Jersey; Main Street in Plymouth, New Hampshire; and Main Street in South Glens Falls, New York.
