Kiliaen’s Landing Site Planning Study

Rensselaer, New York

The City of Rensselaer in conjunction with the New York State Department of State commissioned BFJ to prepare conceptual development proposals for the Kiliaen’s Landing site, an 18-acre property on the Hudson River waterfront that presented a major opportunity for the City to improve its waterfront and image.

A number of planning goals were identified by the City as a guideline for the study, including convenient and attractive public waterfront access, future mixed-use development compatible with adjoining neighborhoods, and feasible site infrastructure improvements. The concept plan accommodated housing development for approximately 200 units together with a range of public amenities including waterfront trails, recreational facilities and landscaped open space.
