BFJ advised Manhattan Community Board 7 on a proposal by private developer Extell to develop the southernmost two blocks of Riverside South in Manhattan. Riverside South is a planned development extending along the Hudson River between 59th and 72nd Streets. It includes new streets, an extension of Riverside Park and development of 15 parcels with a new mix of uses. The Extell application sought to increase density and change uses on three parcels located between 59th and 61th Streets. BFJ analyzed urban design and city planning precedents and open space, floor area ratio, density, affordable housing, parking and circulation proposed on the site. BFJ then outlined several alternative development scenarios suggesting a more complete street system and additional public open space.
