Melville Employment Center Transformation Completed

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

BFJ Planning recently completed a land-use and transportation study for Huntington, New York’s Melville area, the key corporate center of Long Island. The Melville Employment Center(MEC) Plan, completed with Parsons Brinckerhoff and BFJ affiliate Urbanomics, calls for new zoning that will allow for infill development of multifamily housing and supporting retail in underutilized portions of Melville. The aim is to ensure the area’s competitiveness by recognizing that the traditional suburban mentality of separating office and residential uses is not consistent with today’s employment patterns. The MEC Plan is under review for potential adoption by the Huntington Town Board.
